Popular Akorino singer and philanthropist Peter Karangu Wa Muraya is currently admitted at the Nairobi hospital.
Muraya broke the news through his Facebook page where he posted a picture of himself on the hospital bed citing an ailing leg that prevents him from long-distance walks
Karangu is currently one of the most-followed celebrities on Facebook. He shot into the limelight after singing about BBI which is a song praising former President Uhuru Kenyatta over the introduction of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
He is also behind some of the big Kikuyu songs and he also uses his music to address political matters in the country.
Despite the hate and trolls that he faced after releasing the BBI song, he got a platform, and that is how he concentrated on doing charity.
Muraya’s Facebook page is used by all Kenyans to highlight their problems and find solutions to them.
He also works closely with Muthee Kiengei, a popular comedian and presenter at Kameme TV and radio and a fellow philanthropist.
Since he started the charity work, Karangu has helped more than 1,000 needy people in Kenya through his platform.
Social media has made Muraya a brand ambassador to more than 100 brand. Muraya was recently on the receiving end for working with Thika-based real estate company, Lesedi Developers.
This is after it emerged that the company had scammed unsuspecting customers by selling them non-existent land. Muraya is among influencers who ran social media campaigns pushing Kenyans into buying lands and homes through the realtor.
One of the influencers who wished Muraya quick recovery is former Inooro TV actress Nyambu Ithaga Riene.
Muraya had earlier been rumoured to be having an affair with the actress after their photos in several occasions were shared online widely.
Nyambura defended herself claiming that Muraya is just her boss since she was becoming part of the team that was meant to be gracing in the newly launched Ithaga Tv, a Kikuyu Tv station owned by the musician.
Earlier this year, Muraya escaped death while driving back to Nairobi where he was involved in a road accident where his car overturned but he escaped unhurt after spending that day in Mt Kenya region where he distributed food to the elderly and the needy in his home village, Kagoini.
He distributed food supplies to the elderly as a way to celebrate his birthday and as a way of expressing gratitude for how God has opened doors for him.
