DCI Denied Access To CCTV Footage Of Matiang’i Home Raid

The court has denied the DCI’s request for Bob Morgan security footage relating to retired CS Matiang’i’s home raid.

Instead, Magistrate Wandia Nyamu has ordered the parties to show up on March 7 for an interparty hearing before the jury can decide whether or not to grant the orders. DCI had attempted to obtain CCTV footage of the estate surrounding the former CS’s home. The officers stated that they are investigating a robbery with violence and requested that the court grant them orders to obtain CCTV footage from several security companies with cameras in the estate.

Since then, they have obtained a court order from February 10 requiring Amsec Security Services to provide them with video from that evening. On Tuesday, they also submitted a fresh application in an effort to compel Bob Morgan Security to provide them with the video as well.

Chief Inspector Eunice Njue’s plea included a request from the DCI, asking the court to additionally order the release of the video.

The application requests that the court issue an order ordering the manager of Bob Morgan Security to grant DCI cyber forensic expert access to and extraction of CCTV footage for the time period February 8 from 6 p.m. to February 9 midday.
