Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) has launched investigations into complaints raised publicly by a patient, Grace Akinyi. The Kisumu-based referral hospital says it has also contacted Akinyi as it seeks to establish the facts and address any issues identified.
In a press release dated October 8, 2026, the hospital said its management takes concerns raised by patients and members of the public seriously. It added that the investigation would help determine what happened and guide any necessary action.
The hospital also confirmed that it had reached out to Akinyi to discuss the concerns she raised. According to management, she has been assured that her complaints are receiving attention and that mechanisms are in place to address the issues.
“Management will take appropriate action based on the findings of the investigations,” the hospital said in the statement.
JOOTRH further urged the public to allow the investigations to proceed. However, it did not disclose the specific allegations raised by Akinyi in the press release.
The hospital said feedback from patients provides an opportunity to improve service delivery and strengthen accountability. It also reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, compassionate and respectful healthcare.
Meanwhile, JOOTRH has encouraged patients and other members of the public with complaints to report them through its established customer care channels. The hospital said all complaints would be handled with respect, confidentiality and fairness.
Patients can report concerns at the customer care desks in the Accident and Emergency department, Prime Care or the main customer care desk. They can also call 0733 888 579 or email info@jootrh.go.ke.
The hospital said providing specific information would help the committee investigate complaints thoroughly and act swiftly. It reiterated its commitment to listening to patients and improving the quality of healthcare services.
