SHA Extends Health Facility Contracting Deadline to October 14

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has extended the deadline for healthcare facilities to complete the contracting process for the 2026–2029 cycle. The extension gives providers an additional 14 days, moving the deadline from September 30 to October 14, 2026.

SHA said the extension is intended to give healthcare facilities more time to complete the process, while beneficiaries continue accessing services under existing arrangements.

“During the extension period, facilities will continue operating under their existing contracts,” the notice stated. However, the Authority warned that the contracts will lapse after the 14-day extension, and no further extension will be granted.

Healthcare providers accepting the extension will receive an additional contract through the e-contracting platform. They must confirm acceptance, sign and return the agreement within three days, so that services to SHA beneficiaries can continue without disruption.

Facilities that do not accept the extension will have to coordinate with their respective SHA county managers. They will also need to arrange the transfer of patients receiving ongoing care to contracted facilities, so that treatment can continue.

Meanwhile, SHA will hold HAKIKA contracting clinics in every county from October 5, 2026. The clinics will be conducted through SHA county offices, while schedules and provider requirements will be published on the Authority’s website.

The extension comes as thousands of providers remain at different stages of the contracting process. SHA said 10,006 providers have so far expressed interest, although not all have completed the requirements.

“Facilities with all the required documents are encouraged to continue and complete the contracting process without waiting for the deadline,” the notice stated.

The new deadline therefore gives facilities additional time, but providers that want to continue serving SHA beneficiaries will need to complete the required contracting steps within the extended period.
