Four people have lost their lives following a tragic road accident at the Tegero area along the busy Narok–Bomet road, according to police reports.
The incident, which occurred on Friday, 1st May 2026, has once again raised concerns over road safety along the highway, known for frequent accidents.Preliminary investigations indicate that the crash involved a passenger vehicle and a commercial truck.
Witnesses at the scene reported that one of the vehicles lost control before colliding head-on with the other. The impact of the crash was severe, leaving the vehicles extensively damaged and trapping some of the victims inside.Emergency responders, including police officers and local residents, rushed to the scene shortly after the accident occurred.
Efforts to rescue the victims were hindered by the wreckage, but the responders managed to retrieve all those involved. Sadly, four individuals were pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of their injuries.Police officers have since launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Early suspicions point to possible overspeeding and poor visibility, although authorities have not ruled out other factors such as mechanical failure or driver error. The bodies of the deceased have been moved to a nearby mortuary pending identification and post-mortem examinations.The Narok–Bomet road is a key transport route connecting several towns and counties, and it often experiences heavy traffic, especially during weekends and public holidays.
