Three men accused of attacking Godfrey Osotsi have pleaded not guilty to all charges in a court in Kisumu.The suspects—Eric Otieno, also known as “Dube” (39), Vincent Odhiambo alias “Tinga”, and Carlos Owiti alias “Kalonje” were brought before the court where they faced charges of robbery with violence and theft.
They all denied the accusations.According to the prosecution, the three men are said to have attacked the senator on April 8 at a restaurant in Kisumu.It is claimed that they were not alone, and that they worked together with other people who are still missing.During the incident, they are accused of using force on the senator before taking his personal items.
However, the exact items stolen have not been made public.The court was told that police are still investigating the matter.Officers are trying to find and arrest the other suspects who are believed to have taken part in the attack.
Authorities say they are following leads to make sure everyone involved is brought to justice.During the hearing, the prosecution pointed out that the charges are serious and asked the court to be careful when granting bail.They said there could be a risk of the suspects interfering with witnesses or affecting the case. The magistrate agreed to release the three suspects on bond. Each of them was given a bond of Ksh. 1 million. The court also gave conditions they must follow, including attending all court sessions and not interfering with witnesses.The case will be mentioned again on a later date.
