Rigathi Gachagua Breaks Silence After Maina Njenga Disrupts Wife’s Event

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has broken his silence after former Mungiki sect leader Maina Njenga stormed the Dorcas Gachagua event in Nyeri.

In a statement shared on his official X account, the former deputy president stated that the actions witnessed today in Nyeri were uncalled for. He emphasized that despite the government’s desperation, such acts are undemocratic in any nation.

According to reports and witnesses who observed the unfolding events, it is alleged that former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga stormed the meeting with several youths singing traditional songs. This act forced the former second lady, Dorcas Rigathi, to scramble for safety as she disappeared from the event.

“Unleashing the leader of an outlawed criminal gang and his goons to disrupt peaceful prayers and desecrate the altar is the lowest any government can go, no matter the level of desperation,” stated Rigathi Gachagua.

However, according to their critics, the event was organized by the “Nabii wa OTC,” who invited all the leaders, including Maina Njenga, to the gathering.

These events come barely a few weeks after Rigathi Gachagua stated that it was wrong for the government to reintroduce the outlawed sect and fund the Mungiki group as a tactic to manage politics.

These allegations were further dismissed by members of Parliament, including Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi, who stated that Rigathi Gachagua intends to divide the nation along tribal lines and risks taking the Mount Kenya region to the opposition in the 2027 general elections.
