Lawyers of the impeached DP Rigathi Gachagua pleads with the court not to lift the conservatory orders barring the swearing in of nominated DP Prof Kithure Kindiki as the replacement of Gachagua.
Speaking on Tuesday 29, during the hearing of the impeachment proceedings of Gachagua, lawyer John Khaminwa explained that both the President and his deputy were elected as one, hence should be inseparable. He argued that lifting conservatory orders will cause more trouble in the country.

“In my view the two are inseparable and you cannot take one and leave another one. The moment you lift the conservatory order, there could be a problem in the country, there could be trouble in the country,” Khaminwa told the Court.
He further told the Court that the country has showed sympathy with Gachagua, revealing that he has won a lot of sympathy votes from those who didn’t even like him. According to lawyer Khaminwa, lifting the conservatory orders will interfere with the unity in the country.
“It will be devastating for this court to proceed and lift the conservatory order and bring in Prof Kindiki as DP. I don’t know much about Prof Kindiki, I have nothing against him, he has never wronged me and I don’t think he has ever said anything anywhere against me. All that we are interested in at the moment is to make sure that we have one country.”
