DP Gachagua Claims He is Ready to Go Home

Kenya’s Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now claims he is ready to step down from his position amid rising political temperatures currently burning down the curtains of his office.

Speaking in Meru county during a Sunday service, the Kenya’s second-in-command vowed to continue delivering to the people of Kenya, while also acknowledging the people’s trust that had been bestowed on his prior to the previous general elections.

“I am ready to continue working and I am also ready to go home. It’s not a must for me to lead the mount Kenya region, someone else can do it.” He asserted.

Despite being crowned by his callers of impeachment motion, as the leader spreading divisive politics across the country, Gachagua still maintained his stand calling upon the people of Mt Kenya to remain united irrespective of the outcomes of the impeachment calls he is facing.

“My plea to the people of Mt Kenya is not to allow themselves to be divided. If I am sent home and the region is divided, then the Mt Kenya region will face a lot of challanges.” He added

His sentiments came at a time when the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula also broke his long silence on the viral topic, appearing to call Kenyans to take actions against any political leader threatening the unity of the country.

“If there is anyone who wants to disrupt the peace of the nation, they should be removed because we want peace for everybody,” Wetangula said

His remarks followed a string of other politicians who attended the event and called for the impeachment of the deputy president.

“I plead with our leaders to reduce divisive politics that align people along ethnic or religious formations. Every Kenyan has a right to live, own property and enjoy peace anywhere and everywhere in our country.”

Gachagua appears to remain on a hot seat as the lawmakers are expected to table the impeachment motion against the second in command on tomorrow, Tuesday 1st October 2024.
