The World Bank and African Development Bank Group have unveiled Mission 300, an ambitious initiative aimed at providing electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030.
This project seeks to address the critical issue of energy access in Sub-Saharan Africa, where approximately 600 million people currently lack reliable electricity.
Mission 300 begins with a $30 billion commitment and aims to mobilize over $90 billion for clean energy projects, including mini-grids and rooftop solar systems. The initiative emphasizes the importance of electricity access for economic growth and social development, as many communities currently rely on costly and environmentally harmful alternatives like firewood and diesel generators.
The project’s potential to transform lives and boost economies across the continent is significant.
