Kenya Confirms Its Third Mpox Case

The Ministry of Health has confirmed a third case of Mpox in Kenya, raising more concerns about the spread of the disease.

According to a statement released by the Cabinet Secretary of Health, Debra Baraza, the case in Nairobi involves a 30-year-old female who recently traveled to Uganda. She is in stable condition in an isolation unit. This case brings the total to three in Kenya, with previous cases in Taita Taveta and Busia.

“We have screened a total of 582,847 individuals at our 26 designated ports of entry across the country. We remain dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of all citizens, and we will continue implementing response measures,” said Health CS Debra Mulongo.

Active surveillance continues to control the spread of the disease.According to the Ministry, 89 samples have been submitted to laboratories for Mpox testing, with 79 returning negative results.
