Treasury CS John Mbadi has disclosed that the government does not have enough resources to hire JSS teachers on a permanent basis.
While speaking live on Citizen TV, hosted by Sam Gituku, the Treasury CS further stated that the government also does not have resources to hire an additional 20,000 teachers this year.
“We don’t have resources for recruiting JSS teachers on a permanent basis, and we don’t have resources for the additional 20,000.This year is a year of serious challenges; we are trying to manage the budget,” said Mbadi.
This comes after the withdrawal of the contentious finance bill and the promises made by the chairman of the finance and investment committee, Ndindi Nyoro, who had earlier promised that JSS teachers would be employed on permanent terms.
Mbadi further stated that this year the government is trying to manage the budget and cannot raise the 13 billion needed for hiring teachers.
