Water CS Nominee Eric Muuga Muriithi: “I am Worth 31 Million and Have No Car.”

The youngest Cabinet Secretary for Water, Eric Muuga Murithi, has disclosed that he is worth 31 million, primarily from investments in farming and land. The 31-year-old nominee has also highlighted that he has no car to his name and has chosen to invest in land and other ventures, rather than purchase motor vehicles.

While addressing the vetting committee at the County Hall led by Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula, the nominee stated that he is fit for the role and will work with all stakeholders to ensure that all regions are served with water and that there is adequate harvesting of the valuable commodity across the counties.

Muuga was nominated by President William Ruto to join the newly formed cabinet, after the previous cabinet was disbanded following the protests and complains from Kenyans over their poor performance and their display of opulence as Kenyans grapple with hard economic times.

The vetting enters its second day amid jitters and questions about the net worth of the cabinet secretaries, which runs into millions, and concerns about their increased wealth 18 months into office. If approved, the Muuga will be the youngest in the cabinet and is expected to lead the Water and Irrigation docket in Ruto’s government.
