Moi University Suspends Academic Trips Temporarily After Bus Accident

In a precautionary move following a bus accident involving 65 students, Moi University has announced the temporary suspension of all academic trips. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at Kimende area along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway. Vice-Chancellor Isaac Kosgey communicated the decision through the university’s social media platforms.

The unfortunate event involved University Bus KCK 583U, carrying students from the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Kiswahili. According to the statement issued by the Vice-Chancellor, the accident, though non-fatal, took place around 9:50 a.m. during one of the academic trips.

“As a precautionary measure, all academic trips have been suspended until after the Easter Holidays,” the university announced in response to the incident.

Thankfully, there were no reported casualties or fatalities, and all students involved are confirmed to be safe. Alternative transportation arrangements have been made to facilitate the return of the affected students to the main campus.

In the aftermath of the accident, Vice-Chancellor Kosgey stressed the paramount importance of road safety, especially during the forthcoming Easter Holidays. He urged drivers and all road users to exercise heightened caution to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.
