Gachagua Pledges to Give Ruto Space for Work

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has promised Kenyans that he will give space for President William Ruto to work for Kenyans, for the remaining 3-years that he will in the office serving in his first term.

Speaking publicly for the first time since his impeachment, at a funeral service in Kirinyaga County, the ejected Deputy President urged his former boss not look back in the fight against illicit brews in the Mt Kenya region. On this fight, he called on the Head of State to consider delegating the duty to his the recently inaugurated DP, Prof. Kithure Kindiki to ensure no illicit alcohol is sold to Kenyans.

Delving into the illicit brew business operated within the Mt Kenya region, Gachagua reiterated his reasons for stressing on the fight against illicit alcohol revealing his concern on transforming the young people of Kenya who he says, have been swept away by the dangers of consuming unwanted alcohol.

“That is why I want to ask those who are currently in power about the work Rigathi Gachagua did in two years, fighting against illicit brew to save our children, even if you do not want me, let the work continue, to help our children, our sons were into alcohol and we did a lot of work to help them,” Gachagua asserted.

He revealed that he has begun witnessing a revival in the menace, adding that some of the residents from Mt Kenya region approached him hours after his fate was sealed at the court whether the efforts he made to fight illicit brew will be replicated in his absence.

Gachagua also criticized Members of the National Assembly for their expeditious manoeuvring that led to his impeachment, imploring them to replicate that same energy in advancing the Coffee Bill and facilitating the release of funds owed to coffee farmers
