Kenyans now have until Friday, October 25, 2024, 5.00pm to submit their opinions regarding the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which proposes that the term limit for all the elected official in the country extended from five to seven years.
This Bill was proposed by the Senator of Nandi County Samson Cherargei and on September 26, presented to the Senate for a first reading.

Part of the notice provided by Senate Clerk Jeremiah M. Nyegenye, stated, “the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) (No.2) Bill, 2024 (Senate Bills no. 48 of 2024) was read a first time in the Senate on Thursday 26th September, 2024 and thereafter stood committed to the Stang Committe on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights for consideration.”
It further stated that the committee is required, to facilitate public participation in the Bill and to take into account and recommendations of the public when the committee makes its report on the Senate.
Further in the notice issued by the Senate Clerk, it indicated that interested parties can submit their written memoranda through postal mail, by hand delivery to the Clerk’s office at the Main Parliament Buildings in Nairobi, or via email.
