The Director of Public Prosecutions, Renson Ingonga, has announced the state’s intention to press murder charges against popular disk jockey, Joe Mfalme. This announcement comes after a tumultuous series of events surrounding the tragic death of Dagoretti Deputy Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer, Felix Kelian Kintosi.
During a hearing for an application to detain DJ Mfalme, born Joseph Mwenda Munoru, Ingonga, represented by prosecutor Lawrence Mutune, disclosed that investigations are underway to determine whether Mfalme and six others are culpable for Kintosi’s demise.
Mfalme’s associates, Allan Ochieng, Erick Kariuki Gathua, and Simon Wambugu Wanjiru, along with officers Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Cheruiyot Rotich, and Agnes Kerubo Mugoi from Kikuyu Police Station, appeared before Kibera Magistrate Margaret Murage. Mutune elaborated that due to the complexity of the probe, investigators are requesting 21 days to detain the seven individuals.
The lead investigator, Fredrick Kosen, recounted to the court that Kintosi’s brother, Reinhard Kintosi, reported the tragic incident. It was revealed that Kintosi was involved in a vehicular accident while driving along Kikuyu Road, directly opposite the Kikuyu Police Station.
Following the accident, a distressing altercation ensued, during which Kintosi was allegedly assaulted by DJ Mfalme and his associates. Officer Wako, stationed at Kikuyu Police Station, arrived at the scene to find Kintosi being subjected to the violent ordeal.
Subsequently, Kintosi was rushed to Nairobi West Hospital on March 16, 2024, after complaining of lower abdominal pains. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on March 21, 2024, marking a devastating end to the sequence of events.
