Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Issues Stern Warning to Security Agencies Over Laikipia Insecurity

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a stern directive to security agencies operating in Laikipia County, demanding an immediate end to the prevailing insecurity in the region. Firmly asserting that any laxity on this matter will not be tolerated, Gachagua emphasized the urgent need for decisive action during his address at Ng’arua Holy Family Catholic Parish following a church service and fundraiser in Laikipia West.

Gachagua, speaking at two security meetings convened in the area, underscored the detrimental impact of rampant insecurity on the county’s developmental prospects. He reiterated the commitment of the Ruto administration to staunchly address this pressing issue, emphasizing President Ruto’s campaign promise in 2022 to eradicate insecurity in Laikipia County.

Drawing from his own experience, Gachagua recalled his tenure as a District Officer in Ng’arua in 1998, a period marked by ethnic animosity and attacks. He highlighted successful collaboration between security agencies and the local community during that tumultuous time, resulting in the restoration of peace and stability in the once-troubled region.

The Deputy President expressed unwavering confidence in the capability of security forces to quell the ongoing attacks targeting residents of Laikipia. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to fulfilling its electoral pledge, asserting that there is no room for failure in this endeavor.

“We told the people that if they elected Dr. Ruto President and Rigathi Gachagua as his Deputy, matters of insecurity will end. We intend to keep that promise. We know the formula; it is possible. There is no room for discussion,” Gachagua declared emphatically.

In a clear warning to any officer impeding the administration’s efforts, Gachagua emphasized the consequences of obstruction. He unequivocally stated, “It will not be good for any officer who intends to come in between our plan. There is no transfer of lazy officers.”

The Deputy President’s remarks come amid escalating tensions and violence in Laikipia County, with reports of frequent attacks on local communities and their livelihoods. The situation has sparked widespread concern and calls for urgent intervention to restore peace and security in the region.

Gachagua’s decisive stance underscores the gravity of the situation and the government’s determination to address it effectively. As efforts to quell the insecurity in Laikipia intensify, residents and stakeholders alike await tangible action and results from the authorities entrusted with maintaining law and order in the county.

With the assurance of political leadership and the resolve of security agencies, hopes are high for a swift resolution to the security challenges plaguing Laikipia County, paving the way for peace, stability, and progress in the region.
