Citizen TV Suspends Swaleh Mdoe For Laziness At Work

Citizen TV Swahili news anchor Swaleh Mdoe has gotten himself at the exit door of Royal Media Services (RMS) after skipping duty on Tuesday, January 23.

Swaleh, reportedly failed to appear for a 1:00 pm bulletin on Tuesday, also ignoring to inform his supervisor on the day in question leading to the editorial director’s decision to suspend him.

Since then, the veteran journalist has not been seen on the screen for more than three weeks now, in a row.

However, certain sources revealed that Mdoe had been feeling unwell and sought medical care on that day he missed appearing on air to present the bulletins.

The following day, when Mr Mdoe made himself available to pick from where he had left, he was indefinitely barred by his bosses from taking steps to sit on the anchoring desk. This has not hindered the veteran anchor from reporting daily to work, as reports reveal he had been committed to making his presence within work premises despite receiving the verbal suspension.

The seasoned news anchor hosts the Monday prime-time Swahili bulletin at 7:00 pm as well as the 1:00 pm bulletins on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Mdoe joined Citizen TV in March 2007, where he has been serving as a permanent fixture on Kenyan screens, after serving in several places in the media and communication field.
