Fromer Rombo Kamete MCA has passed on after a long protracted illnesses, family announces.
The former county legislator passed away on Monday while receiving treatment, according to the family, who also announced that the funeral will be held in Loitokitok on Tuesday.
On Friday, the county assembly fraternity and Governor Joseph Lenku sent their condolences to the Kamete family.
Lenku expressed his sorrow, saying, “I join the residents of Rombo Ward in Kajiado South in mourning the untimely passing of their former MCA, Kamete, after a protracted illness.”
The governor praised Kamete for his integrity and leadership in Rombo and Kajiado South throughout the course of his extensive political career, which covered more than 20 years as a councilor and later as an MCA in 2013 and 2017.
He conscientiously participated in the first county assembly following devolution as one of The National Alliance’s (TNA) important leaders. His few but wise comments were spoken with grace, according to Lenku.
Lenku continued, “In fact, despite his deteriorating health, we worked very hard together in my first run for governor in 2017.”
The governor claimed that Kamete was always available for advice, and indeed, he can attest that Kamete had the interests of the residents of Rombo at heart.
As we confront the destruction caused by losing the former MCA together, I stand this morning with the family, friends, and residents of Rombo, stated Lenku. The late former MCA was hailed as “a cordial and disciplined” leader who had high regard for other leaders in the assembly by Kajiado County Assembly Speaker Justus Ngossur.
Ngossur and Kamete served as MCAs together from 2013 to 2023.
