Kensalt Limited Company has announced to increase prices of salt beginning Saturday, April 15, 2023. This announcement comes at the moment President Ruto has pledged to Kenyans that prices of Unga is set to go down starting next week.
In a statement issued on Friday 14th April by Arpan Roy, Kensalt General Manager, this sudden increment is correspondingly occasioned by the rise in the cost of production.
Further, he explained that there shall be an additional Ksh 1000 VAT to every ton produced by the company.
“We wish to inform you that due to continuous rise in the cost of production, we have been forced to increase our prices by ksh 1000 plus VAT will be added to every ton produced,” read in his statement.
According to Kensalt Limited Company, the move to raise prices is a reaction from the company to try and adjust so it can successively supply the product without failure.
Amid the increment, one packet of 1kg of Kensalt product retails for ksh 30-40 while 2kg goes for about ksh 70-80.
