Woman Seeks Court Justice, Wants Kiptum’s Burial Stopped

Drama ahead of Kelvin Kiptum’s burial as a woman runs to Eldoret court, seeking justice for a son she claims to have been fathered by Kiptum. The yet anonymous woman wants her son to be recognized as Kiptum’s.

However, the Eldoret court declined to issue orders barring the burial of the World Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum despite a case to do so, being filed by the woman. In regards, his body was taken from Moi Eldoret mortuary on Thursday, February 22, 2024, for viewing at Iten. As planned before, Kiptum’s body will finally be laid to rest in his home at Naiberi, Elgeyo Maraket County.

Kenyans, however, have expressed diverse views relative to court’s decision, with majority applauding the court for what they term appropriate decision. Below are a few highlights of the reactions from Kenyans:

Emmanuel Tanui : The law should be this way, that whenever a woman, knowing or believing she has a child with a man, and chooses to be quiet for whatever or any reasons, and only comes out after the man’s passing on, such a woman should have no right to paternal claim for the said child.
