President William Ruto has responded to Uhuru Kenyatta’s message to Gen Z.
Back on Friday during a burial ceremony in Muthaiga, retired president Uhuru Kenyatta urged the young generation of the country, including his daughter, to fight for their rights against the political class. His words came at a time when Gen Z has been critical of the Kenya Kwanza administration under William Ruto for the way he has been leading the country in his first term. It is to be remembered that Gen Z took to the streets last year to protest against the financial bill.
William Ruto appeared to be responding to Uhuru Kenyatta’s message by stating that leaders should not be inciting the young people against each other. “Our young people deserve the best from us. Let us not pit our children against each other. These young Kenyans do not need violence or confrontation,” Ruto stated. They want jobs and opportunities to engage in business, and that is what we should be doing as leaders instead of inciting them to violence,” he added.
On Friday, Ruto led the swearing-in of the new cabinet secretaries who had been appointed after the urgent meeting between Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto in Gatundu.
