US Alerts Citizens To Potential Terrorist Attacks In Kenya’s capital, Nairobi

There may be a terrorist assault in Kenya’s capital city of Nairobi, the US government has warned its residents there.

The US claimed through its embassy in Nairobi that terrorist organizations may carry out an attack with little to no notice, aiming for populous places. It has identified high-traffic places in Nairobi and other parts of Kenya that are popular with foreigners and tourists as targets for the terrorist organizations.

The statement warned that terrorist organizations “may attack with little or no notice, targeting hotels, embassies, restaurants, malls and marketplaces, schools, police stations, places of worship, and other locations frequently visited by foreigners and tourists.”

The embassy has acknowledged the security precautions the Kenyan government has taken, such as the counterterrorism patrols.US nationals in the nation have been urged to exercise caution in areas that are popular with tourists and visitors from other countries, to check their personal security plans, to be aware of their surroundings, and to keep an eye on local media for updates.

Following recent incidents of resident muggings, the Kenyan government has maintained a state of high alert with multi-agent security teams in Nairobi. This occurs just a month after the US Embassy in Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam issued a security warning to its nationals over a “potential attack.”

The US Embassy in Tanzania alleged in a notice dated January 25 that the terrorist organizations were preparing to launch an attack in high-traffic locations frequented by westerners in Dar es Salaam and other parts of the East African nation.
