Police in Kikuyu have arrested a University of Nairobi student accused of fatally stabbing his roommate following a dispute over bathroom use. The victim, identified as Brian Wambui, a third-year student, reportedly succumbed to stab injuries after a quarrel with his roommate on Sunday night.
According to the eye witnesses who spoke to the police, the two clashed over who should flush and clean their shared hostel toilet. The argument is said to have escalated into intense physical altercation, leading to the fatal stabbing.
The suspect, identified as Justus Otieno, also a third-year student, was apprehended and is currently being held at Kikuyu Police Station. He is expected to be arraigned once investigations are complete.
The body of the deceased has since been moved to PCEA Thogoto Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
Police have launched investigations into the matter, describing it as a tragic incident stemming from a domestic dispute between roommates. However, the authority urged university students not to take law in their hands but rather find ways to solve disputes and tensions between and among themselves.
The police has further promised to conduct thorough investigations to serve justice.
