UDA Member Of Parliament Wants CBC Stopped

Nandi hills constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Bernard Kitur now wants the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) scrapped.

Speaking on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) lawmaker argued that the curriculum has been a pain in the pockets of most low-income parents who are already being slapped by the hardships of life.

Kitur wants the government to reconsider the 8-4-4 system which according to him better accommodated all social classes fairly.

“My take is stop this thing called CBC to standard 7 and 8, let’s just continue with the program as it was and then let’s have a proper framework, a well thought out program is going to be reasonable on the pockets of the many Kenyans who are going through difficult financial challenges, ” he said.

The fist time MP went on to allege that the architects of the curriculum did not take into account members of the society at the bottom of the pyramid, saying that they only confined themselves with their reality of abundance.

“Sometimes when you are top there you fail to realize the challenges of those people going downwards, its horrible, the economy is bad,” he added.

His statement comes as admission of the first cohort of the CBC curriculum to secondary is ongoing.
