Former Nairobi governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, has surrendered after his Facebook account was suspended by Meta.
Sonko’s account was taken down following his frequent and firm posts involving the LGBTQ community.
Taking it to his Twitter account, the politician turned businessman claimed that his Facebook account which had over 2.5 million followers, was blocked by the social media company after several complaints were reported against him on his posts.
Sonko alleged that the LGBTQ community members demanded that he should apologize to them before he appealed to Meta to restore his Facebook page.
The businessman insisted that he won’t apologize and vowed to continue with everything on Twitter where he has 2.3 million followers.
He has been against homosexuality from the time the Supreme Court of Kenya ruled in favour of LGBTQ community.
The court ruled that the homosexuality members have rights although the law doesn’t allow same sex marriage.
The judges claimed that denying the LGBTQ community members registration in Non-Governmental Organizations is discriminatory and contravened the law.
The ruling sparkled different reactions among Kenyans where most of them were angry and demanded that homosexuality can’t be allowed in the country.
