Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko pledged to support families who lost their loved ones following the ongoing floods that have affected several parts of Nairobi.In an update shared on Wednesday, Sonko said he would facilitate transportation and burial arrangements for all victims who died as a result of the floods.
The former county boss noted that many affected families are currently struggling with the emotional and financial burden of laying their loved ones to rest.He assured the bereaved families that his office would step in to ensure the bodies of the deceased are transported to their respective rural homes or preferred burial locations.
Sonko stated that his team would coordinate with the families to make the necessary logistical arrangements and ensure the victims receive dignified send-offs.The former governor also conveyed his condolences to the families mourning their relatives, describing the floods as a tragic disaster that has left many residents devastated.
He urged leaders, well-wishers and humanitarian organizations to come together and support those affected during this difficult period.Several areas in Nairobi have been affected by flooding following heavy rains that have pounded the city in recent days.The floods have destroyed homes, displaced families and disrupted transport in low-lying neighborhoods.
