Safaricom Appoints New Executive Director

The Board of Safaricom PLC has pleasantly announced the appointment of Mr. Edward Okaro as an Independent Non- Executive Director, effective from 15 January 2025.

Bringing in his overwhelming 30+ years of experience working as an audit, Mr. Okaro is hoping to be the ideal financial and strategic risk manager for the Kenya’s leading telco firm. Previously, Mr Okaro served Ernst &Young Africa Risk Services for twenty six (26) years, rising to the position of Director and subsequently Partner in Ernst & Young Africa Risk Services.

Mr. Okaro takes pride in holding a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Manchester Business School, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi. Besides, he is a FCPA from the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (1CPAK) and a Member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).
