IEBC Deputy CEO Ruth Kulundu Interdicted Over Impersonation And Gross Misconduct

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Deputy CEO Ruth Kulundu was suspended to claims of gross misconduct and insubordination contrary to the Commissions’ terms whose consequences include dismissal from service if found culpable..

According to the interdiction letter sent by IEBC CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan, Kulundu is alleged of impersonating the CEO and involving in arranging of an illegal meeting with four commissioners; Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyang’aya and Irene Masit who disputed the 2022 final tally of the presidential polls.

Kulundu without Marjan’s authority as the substantive secretary during all commission meetings, oversaw the appointment of lawyers Paul Muite and Issa Mansur to represent the commission in a presidential election petition filed by Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua wanting the nullification of William Ruto’s win.

Acting Director of Voter Registration and Electoral Operations Moses Sunkuli revealed to be one of the victim, staff threatened and intimidated by Kulundu. Cherera and her team await rulling from the National Assembly after two petitions were filed against them.
