Rigathi Gachagua: I am Ready to Become Gen Z Political Leader

Embattled former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stated that he is ready to become a Gen Z political leader if they allow him to take up the role.

Gachagua made these remarks while attending the Malala Super Cup, organized by former UDA Secretary-General Cleophas Malala in Makunga, Kakamega County.

According to Gachagua, it is every leader’s dream to have the backing of the young generation, dubbed Gen Z, because of their large numbers and their ability to articulate issues effectively.
“If they let me, I would like to be their leader. The Gen Z are significant in numbers, and it is every politician’s dream to lead them and have their support. If they support me, I will be happy, as it is now evident that the current government does not listen to them. It is a good wish for me,” he said.

Rigathi Gachagua further clarified that, despite being repeatedly mentioned in connection with sponsoring protests, he did not participate in the anti-government demonstrations that threatened to destabilize the government in June this year. He stated that he defended the youth against police brutality, as many young people took to the streets to demand that the government fulfill its promises. He also said he advised the President that it was not right to harm the young protesters.

Gachagua was accompanied by former CS Eugene Wamalwa and other key opposition leaders, as well as members of the Tawe movement led by Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.
