Raila Odinga: Edwin Sifuna Speaks on Behalf of ODM Party

ODM party leader Raila Odinga has affirmed that Edwin Sifuna speaks on behalf of the ODM party, as he serves as the Secretary-General of the Orange movement.

Odinga reiterated this while attending the burial of the slain Kasipul Member of Parliament, Charles Ongondo Were, in Oyugis, Homa Bay County.

Raila’s remarks address the recent confusion within the party, where sharp criticism has been directed at Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna for downplaying the broad-based government in which ODM is a participant.

“Edwin Sifuna is the Secretary-General of the ODM party. He therefore speaks on behalf of the party and articulates its position. But Sifuna, don’t be too hard-hitting. We are part of the broad-based government with Kenya Kwanza under the 10-point agenda aimed at restoring the nation,” he said.

A section of ODM members, including Oburu Odinga and Peter Kaluma, had rebuked Sifuna for stating that the party plans to dethrone President William Ruto in 2027, despite ODM’s presence in government through cabinet ministers such as Opiyo Wandayi, Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, and John Mbad
