President William Ruto Appoints New Cabinet Secretaries

President William Ruto, in a formal announcement released on Thursday, December 19, revealed new members of the cabinet secretaries.

Former cabinet secretary for Health in Uhuru’s government, Mutahi Kagwe, will now serve as the cabinet secretary for the Ministry for Agriculture and Livestock Development; William Kabogo, a former governor of Kiambu, was also named cabinet secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy.

Kipchumba Murkomen has been transferred from the ministry of sports and will now occupy the interior ministry left by current deputy president Kithure Kindiki, while former Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui will serve as the cabinet secretary for investment, trade, and industry. Salim Mvurya has been moved to the sports docket, which was held by Murkomen.

However, political analysts have termed the move by Ruto to be an effort to try and win the Kikuyu back under his wing, especially after his fallout with former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.Senate speaker Amason Kingi has defended the move by Ruto to work with both Raila and Uhuru as a move to unite the country.
