President Ruto Orders The Ministry Of Agriculture To Reclaim KMC

The Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) has been returned to the Ministry of Agriculture by President William Ruto.

Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi declared on Friday, November 4, that the President has authorized the reversion of the Parastatal from complete military management. CS Linturi, on the other hand, stated that the military will continue to administer the commission due to their efficiency in transforming the agency.

“KMC has been returned to the Ministry of Agriculture by the President.” The military is part of the government, and we must acknowledge the wonderful work they have done as well as their competent administration.” As mentioned by the CS.

We will keep cooperating and we have no issues with them, he stressed. He noted how livestock farmers in particular had profited from the KMC reform and how Ruto’s administration was committed to maintaining the gains earned.

“We can tell they’ve just been doing that for a short while by the amount of meat on the market. Additionally, it is spotless. Since citizens must ultimately receive improved services, what we really care about is how those services are delivered. As Linturi said.

The military had taken control of the Parastatal during the second term of former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Former CS for Agriculture Peter Munya announced the takeover in a notice dated September 7, 2020. It was explained at the time that the transfer of authority was meant to restructure the parastatal, which was losing money.

One of Uhuru’s successes that he highlighted at his final national holiday festivities as President was the transformation of KMC. Uhuru said during the 2022 Madaraka Day celebrations, “When we gave them the Kenya Meat Commission to handle, they converted it into a profit-making firm in record time.
