President Ruto Makes Key Appointments to State Corporations and Councils

President William Ruto has announced a fresh round of appointments to the boards of several state corporations and regulatory bodies, marking significant changes in leadership across key institutions.

In a gazette notice, the President appointed James Kibugu Wambu as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) Board, replacing Kembi Gitura, whose appointment was revoked in the same notice. At the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), Pius Ang’asa, General Manager of Nokia Kenya, has been named to the Board of Directors for a four-year term.

The President also appointed Dr. Joseph Choge as the Chairperson of the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya for a period of three years.

Other notable appointments include Winnie Beauttah, who joins the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), replacing Nancy Kibugi. To strengthen Kenya’s maritime sector, Dr. Fridah Simba, Joab Tumbo, Steve Biko Luseno, and Ahmed Abdirahman Elyass have been appointed to the Bandari Maritime Academy Board.

At the Kenya Fisheries Service Board, the President appointed Josiah Ochieng Obole and Omad Idd Boga, while Billy Komintai Konchellah has been named to the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya Board for a three-year term. In addition, Emma Velma Achieng Maumo and Shimoy Khalif Jilaow have been appointed as trustees of the President’s Award Board.

President Ruto also expanded the Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Demonstrations and Public Protests, bringing in John Maina, Churchill Suba, and Daki Guyo, with Guyo designated as joint secretary of the panel. The changes are part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to restructure leadership in strategic state agencies and enhance governance in critical sectors of the economy.
