Acting Inspector General of police Douglas Kanja
The police force has revealed plans by armed individuals to infiltrate the protest scheduled for today, Tuesday, the 16th, in the country.
In a statement issued by the National Police Service, there are certain organized criminal gangs who have planned to infiltrate, destabilize, and disrupt the peaceful protest led by Gen Z, potentially jeopardizing public safety.
The police service further cautioned citizens that they will uphold the rule of law and maintain law and order. They called on demonstrators to promote peace while participating in the protest.
Several shops in Nairobi were closed today as reports emerged of youth taking to the streets in a peaceful demonstration. The protests are now in their third week, which political analysts are calling a voice for change. These gatherings reflect a growing movement among young people advocating for social and political reform in the country.
Authorities and the police have urged the public to remain calm and enhance peace as they monitor the situation to ensure safety and prevent any escalation of violence. The police urge everyone to exercise restraint and adhere to peaceful methods of expression as the Police service is committed to facilitating the rights of citizens to express their views while ensuring that public order is maintained.
