Police Search The Homes In Nairobi And Nyandarua Of Former Mungiki Leader Maina Njenga

Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga claims that police raided his homes in Nyandarua and Nairobi on Friday early for unspecified reasons.

Njenga told the media that police teams arrived at his Nyandarua, Karen, and Lavington houses at the same time at 4 a.m. and informed his employees that they were looking for him.

“They claimed to be looking for me. “I’m not sure why, but I see it as politics and harassment that needs to stop,” he said.

Njega linked the searches to the burial of Dedan Kimathi’s widow, Mukami Kimathi, scheduled for Saturday, May 13, which will be attended by President William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga. He asserted that the administration was attempting to prevent him from going to the burial by carrying out the police raid.

“I visited Kimathi’s home on Thursday and informed the family that we would be arriving with Baba. I believe this is the reason they are acting in this way. Let it be a funeral, he continued.

After going into hiding, Njenga pleaded with the authorities to cease harassing him and free his employees. “Why did they do that? What did I do? If they need me, they may summon me, but they can’t raid homes and harass innocent people”, he remarked. President Ruto will attend the burial of the late Mukami in Nyandarua, according to a statement made last week by Vice President Rigathi Gachagua.

“In order to give Mukami a proper send-off, the President has ordered the government to take charge of the funeral preparations. Gachagua said, “Ruto himself has vowed he will lead the country on that day when we bury our freedom fighter.

Additionally, Raila stated that he would not skip Mukami’s funeral because they were close.

“I have to attend Shujaa Mama Mukami wa Kimathi’s funeral. We were really close, and I’ll be at Njabini for her last earthly rites,” Raila said.
