ODM Leaders Criticize Opposition for Snubbing Raila’s Dialogue Call

HOMA BAY – A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders has criticized opposition figures aligned with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for rejecting an intergenerational national dialogue proposed by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Led by ODM Chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, the leaders accused Gachagua and his allies of tribalism and political sabotage. Speaking during the launch of Ratanga Modern Market in Homa Bay County, Wanga said the former DP had taken his divisive politics abroad, alleging that his meetings in the U.S. only involved members of his ethnic group.

“Their rejection of national dialogue shows their unwillingness to see a united Kenya. Gachagua has exported tribal politics to the U.S., meeting only people from his community,” Wanga stated.

Wanga reaffirmed ODM’s commitment to collaborating with President William Ruto under a broad-based government, dismissing critics of the Raila-Ruto partnership. “We have agreed to work with President Ruto. We have no apologies. We will support him and his government’s programs,” she said.

Other leaders present, including Ndhiwa MP Martin Owino, Migori Woman Representative Fatuma Mohammed, Siaya Woman Rep Christine Ombaka, and Nominated Senator Beatrice Ogolla, echoed similar sentiments, backing the proposed National Conclave to address key political and economic issues.

Idah Odinga, who was also in attendance, urged the Luo community to embrace the current political arrangement, stating it was time for the region to benefit from development initiatives driven by the Ruto-Raila partnership.

Fatuma Mohammed called on the youth to stop protests and allow the national dialogue to take place peacefully.

The leaders maintained that dialogue is the only way forward to foster political stability and inclusive development across the country.
