Mudavadi Cautions UDA Leaders as Competition for 2027 Tickets Intensifies

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has warned elected leaders affiliated with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to prepare for intense political competition ahead of the 2027 General Election, following a sharp rise in the number of aspirants seeking party nominations.Mudavadi said the party has already received thousands of applications from individuals expressing interest in contesting for various elective positions on the UDA ticket.

These include governor, Member of Parliament (MP), Member of County Assembly (MCA), Woman Representative, and Senator.According to Mudavadi, the growing interest signals increased confidence in the ruling party but also underscores the likelihood of highly competitive nominations.

He noted that current office holders should not assume automatic endorsement, as the party intends to allow a level playing field during the nomination process. He emphasized that UDA is committed to upholding internal democracy through transparent and credible nominations that reflect the will of party members.

Mudavadi added that leaders seeking re-election must remain connected to the electorate and demonstrate tangible development records. The Prime Cabinet Secretary also urged aspirants to focus on issue-based campaigns and party unity, warning that unmanaged rivalry could undermine the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 polls.

He reiterated that discipline and fairness within the party would be critical in sustaining public trust and electoral success.Mudavadi’s remarks come amid early political mobilization across the country, with parties beginning to position themselves for the next general election cycle.
