Miguna Miguna Challenges Kindiki’s Empty Threats

Lawyer Miguna Miguna has challenged Kithure Kindiki, the Interior Cabinet Secretary, to fulfill his promise of arresting the organizers and funders of the violent protests that occurred in Kenya. Miguna warned Kindiki that making empty threats would damage his credibility and advised leaders in positions of power to refrain from making threats they are unable or unwilling to carry out. Miguna cautioned that if Kindiki fails to execute his latest threat, he risks being ridiculed and mocked in Kenya.

Kindiki, the Interior CS, implicated opposition leader Raila Odinga as being responsible for the widespread destruction during the protests. He highlighted Odinga’s past involvement in violent politics in Kenya, citing the 1982 attempted coup and the 2007/2008 post-election violence. Kindiki warned that all individuals involved in planning and financing the demonstrations would be arrested and prosecuted. He announced the mobilization of law enforcement agencies and the criminal justice system to conduct urgent investigations and take action against those accountable.

Miguna Miguna’s call for Kindiki to follow through on his threat reflects a demand for accountability and justice. The government’s approach to the investigations and subsequent legal proceedings to address the violence and damage caused by the protests remains uncertain.
