The nation will commemorate its 60th Madaraka Day, which will draw Kenyans from all walks of life to the location. Kenyans flocked to the location starting at 8 am as the military made last preparations. While others prepared presidential dias, they were observed inspecting security.

The event will be presided over by President William Ruto. Celebrations for Madaraka Day are scheduled to draw more than 10,000 people to Embu. The first of June is designated as Madaraka Day, a national holiday honoring internal self-rule.
