Kenyans Alerted: Muturi’s Resignation Letter Proven False, Misinformation Warning

Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Justin Muturi has refuted claims of his resignation after a fake letter circulating on social media alleged that he had stepped down from his position.

The letter, purportedly signed by Muturi, claimed that he was resigning due to “unforeseen challenges” that hindered his ability to execute his duties effectively. It expressed gratitude to President William Ruto for the opportunity to serve but indicated that stepping back was in the “best interest of all involved.”

However, Muturi has firmly dismissed the claims, maintaining that he remains fully committed to his role.

“I categorically state that this letter is fake and should be disregarded. I remain fully committed to serving the people of Kenya in my capacity as Cabinet Secretary, working to strengthen our public service and enhance human capital development,” he stated via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday.

Muturi also urged Kenyans to be cautious of misinformation and avoid falling for false narratives spreading on social media.

“Let us all be vigilant against misinformation intended to mislead the public,” he warned.

The CS’s alleged resignation rumors emerged amid reports of tensions within the government. Some leaders allied with President Ruto have criticized Muturi following his remarks on rising cases of forced disappearances. In a recent interview, he disclosed that his own son had been a victim and was only released after he contacted the president.

Despite calls from some government figures for him to step down, Muturi reiterated in a Citizen TV interview that he has no plans to resign, dismissing speculations of a fallout with the president.
