Kenyan Majority Leader Prays for Opposition Leaders Daily

National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah has expressed his commitment to praying for opposition co-principals on a daily basis. During the National Assembly proceedings, Ichung’wah encouraged fellow Kenyans to join him in praying for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka. He extended an invitation to the two leaders to attend the upcoming National Prayer Breakfast on June 7, emphasizing that even if they decide not to attend, they will still be included in the prayers.

In addition to Odinga and Musyoka, Ichung’wah mentioned that he also prays for President William Ruto, his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, and all other elected leaders. He expressed his hope that these prayers would foster reconciliation among Kenyans and soften the hearts of political leaders.

The statement from Ichung’wah follows the announcement by the Azimio leadership that they would be skipping the National Prayer Breakfast. They cited a lack of honesty and an unsuitable environment for humility, honesty, and respect among leaders. The Azimio leaders expressed concerns about displays of arrogance, superiority battles, false hopes given to citizens, and the mischaracterization and misinterpretation of intentions by well-known leaders associated with Kenya Kwanza. Consequently, they declined the invitation to the breakfast.

In conclusion, Ichung’wah’s declaration of daily prayers for opposition leaders demonstrates his commitment to promoting unity and goodwill in Kenyan politics. However, the Azimio leadership’s decision to skip the National Prayer Breakfast reflects their reservations about the event’s atmosphere and potential negative effects on the country.
