Kabianga University, one of the biggest public universities across the country, has been closed indefinitely on April 4th 2023. This follows a period of unrest caused by the students who claimed that the university has hugely raised the school fees.
As per the official memo promptly released by the school, the decision to close the institution was unanimously reached upon following the special senate meeting held today, Tuesday 4th April.
In the memo that also contained the signature of the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Elija Omwenga, students from main campus were ordered to vacate the school premises by 5pm in the evening.
Further communication is expected to be given by the University as the time goes.
