The Police Inspector General Japhet Koome has shown courage on duty, a day after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua asked him to continue giving his services to the people of Kenya without fear.
This comes at the moment when Azimio coalition already wrote a letter to the ICC accusing IG Koome for employing extrajudicial force to intimidate peaceful protesters during the anti-government demos organized by Azimio supporters.
According to Koome, who was addressing the press at his private residence; Azimio’s effort to reach to ICC in a letter that specified him, shall not make him step back but he will continue delivering as the constitution mandates him.
“I thank you for the letter. I will not be intimidated by the letter, I want to tell my officers not to be intimidated by the letter. We vowed to serve our country and we don’t have another country.” He said.
On his side, Koome accused Azimio for being tribalistic adding that the opposition is selling propaganda and nothing else.
“It started with Muthaura, he was taken there and now it is me.Why are they targeting Meru people? Let’s stop these tribal matters.” He added.
