I was Not Consulted On The Ouster of Cleophas Malala – DP Rigathi Gachagua

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that no one consulted him over the ouster of embattled UDA Secretary-General Cleophas Malala. Rigathi made the disclosure while addressing a media press conference where they invited all local Kikuyu dialect speakers on Sunday.

The DP said that he was not consulted nor informed that the Secretary-General was being kicked out. He further revealed that Malala was evicted at 5 a.m. before he could get to the party headquarters.

“No one consulted me on the ouster of Cleophas Malala. They evicted him at 5 a.m. That is not how a ruling party should behave. As a deputy party leader, I wanted to attend, but at 6 a.m., I was told by my people that the meeting was over. It was a sad state of affairs,” said Rigathi Gachagua.

Malala was ousted as Secretary General in a National Executive Committee meeting chaired by the party chairperson, Cecily Mbarire, and other committee members. He was replaced by Haasan Omar in an acting capacity.

The exposé by Rigathi indicated an emerging rift in the ruling coalition, especially with the UDA party and its leader, President William Ruto. Rigathi mentioned that only Ruto would be blamed if something goes haywire in the regime, as he opted to work with Odinga, former Premier, doubling as the ODM party boss.

The Deputy President questioned the focus of the President in bringing onboard people who did not vote for the current government into the cabinet but further said he is ready to work with any person regardless of their political affiliation.
