I Did Not Authorize Rigathi Gachagua’s Impeachment — President William Ruto

President William Ruto has said that he did not authorize the impeachment of the embattled Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua.

While speaking to a Mount Kenya radio station, Ruto stated that Rigathi Gachagua had been troublesome, having picked fights with popular blogger Dennis Itumbi and president’s personal assistant Farouk Kibet.

Ruto further mentioned that Gachagua was difficult to work with and he had warned MPs that if they did not bow to his authority, they would face consequences.

According to Ruto, these statements angered the MPs and led them to impeach Rigathi Gachagua.

“I did not authorize Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment. In fact, I saved him three times when MPs were furious with him. However, they gained momentum in their push to remove him, and despite my pleas, they did not listen. It was a done deal because he kept picking fights daily, even though we had made commitments to the public.”

The president is expected to tour the Mount Kenya region starting today, where he will launch and inspect several projects across the area.
