4-voters in Isiolo county have filed a lawsuit at High Court, demanding the removal of Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo and his deputy John Lowasa who defected to President William Ruto’s UDA party a few days ago.
The bold four plaintiffs namely; Guyo Ali, Mohammed Wario, Teddy Muturi and Steven Kihonge, allege that the duo’s prompt switch from the Jubilee party to UDA is undermining multiparty democracy in the country, a matter that disqualifies them from holding their positions.
Consequently, they now ask for a by-election to fill the resulting vacancies. Through lawyer Kibe Mungai who presented this petition of the four voters, they want the county boss Guyo and his deputy Lowasa to be temporarily bared from carrying their leadership mandates until the matter is fully heard in court
In another petition, the four also accuse the Registrar of Political Parties of enabling party hopping. They now demand the court to give directives issuing notice to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of the duo’s departure from Jubilee party.
Besides requesting the High Court to hastily engage and intervene over the matter, the 4-petitioners seek for order to be issued that deter president Ruto’s UDA-party from soliciting, sponsoring and aiding the defection of elected Jubilee Party leaders.
