Foreign Diplomats Speak Up Over The Azimio Demonstrations

High commissioners and embassies in Kenya have expressed worry about the commotion and property damage brought on by the Azimio La Umoja marches.

The commissioners urged authorities to move promptly to find a solution in a statement on Wednesday. The statement stated, “We welcome the Inspector General of Police’s promise to begin an investigation into recent events, including the destruction of private property.

According to the statement, “We concur with the Chairperson of the Africa Union Commission (AUC) in recalling the successful conduct of the general elections in 2022, and the unanimous affirmation of their results by the Supreme Court.”

The recent instability and violence, as well as the damage of houses of worship and private property, concerned the commissioners.

Kenya has a well-deserved reputation as an anchor of stability, security, and democracy in Africa and beyond, according to the commissioners.

Ambassadors and High Commissioners from the following countries—Australia, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States—issued the statement.
