Foreign Aid Cannot Bring Prosperity to Africa – Yoweri Museveni

Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has said that foreign aid from donors cannot bring prosperity to Africa, stating that Africa must rely on itself to attain self-reliance.

While speaking during the official unveiling of Raila Odinga as the ideal candidate for AUC Chairmanship, Museveni stated that African nations must strive to produce their own products and services and enhance food production to achieve prosperity in the continent.

“Prosperity means having food, good shelter, education, and health. There was a lot of time wasted on how to achieve prosperity through foreign aid, etc. All that cannot bring prosperity. We discovered that to ensure prosperity, at least in Uganda, each adult must engage in the production of a good or a service,” said Museveni.

He further expressed his support for Raila Odinga, stating that Odinga is fit for the job because he is a Pan-Africanist who will bring the much-needed reforms to the African continent.

“I am representing Uganda to advocate for Raila Odinga’s AUC bid as he is a dedicated Pan-Africanist.

He is not seeking a job or career advancement; he is a true leader,” added Museveni.
